Turning a hotel room into an MR playground

Hotel rooms are usually places to sleep. But what if they could also become spaces to play? During the AUREA Award at Europa-Park Resort, we checked into Hotel Colosseo with a simple idea: use a regular hotel room as a test space for room-independent XR.

With our auto-adaptive Mixed Reality SDK, we scanned the room and transformed it into an immersive MR playground in seconds. The experience adapted to the actual layout of the room using spatial computing and procedural generation.

Instead of requiring a custom-built venue, the existing space became the experience. Furniture, walls, and open areas were integrated into the gameplay. This enabled real walking, passive haptics, and a more natural form of immersion. The result was a small but exciting glimpse into what hotel entertainment could become: interactive, scalable, and available directly inside the guest’s room.

Could hotel rooms become interactive spaces in the future?
